Logan County - Logan County was established in 1887 from an area of eastern Weld County. Sterling became the temporary county seat in March of 1887. It was founded February 25, 1887. A second election in December of 1887 saw Sterling again win the county seat, and it remain so today. Parts of Sedgwick and Phillips Counties were created from areas of eastern Logan County. Logan County was named for John Alexander Logan who was a United States Senator from Illinois.
